Thoughtful design innovations from Electrolux, including the Australian designed Ebony Kitchen Collection, were awarded the Gold accolades in the Industrial Design (Home Appliance) category last night at the prestigious Singapore Design Awards 2010.

The gala dinner event, held at the Shangri-la Hotel in Singapore, featured a great line-up of cutting edge entries by renowned international and local designers, with the winners chosen by an international panel of 24 judges.

“We are extremely honoured and thrilled to win two prestigious gold awards,” said Ms Pernilla Johansson, Design Director, Electrolux Asia Pacific. “The awards are testimony to the unique approach of Electrolux called ‘Thoughtful Design’ that focuses on thinking about the user. This design philosophy is at the very heart of the Electrolux brand, and we are constantly looking for new ways to create holistic products that are easy to use, relevant and create desirable end-user experiences.”

Created in a classic black hue, the appliances in the new Electrolux Ebony Kitchen Collection are the perfect mainstays of the modern kitchen. Each glossy piece in the collection showcases the latest in Electrolux technology with touch electronic controls, smooth black flat panel doors and a sleek black finish, complemented with stylish stainless steel handles.

A striking range for consumers who want a kitchen at the forefront of modern design, the Electrolux Ebony Kitchen Collection features a range of black glossy appliances including a side by side refrigerator, bottom mount refrigerator, premium oven with touch on glass and 10 multi functions, induction or gas cook top, dishwasher and a canopy rangehood for a consistent look throughout the kitchen.

Singapore Design Awards 2010 is hosted by the Design Association of Singapore (DAS) and honours outstanding projects in the fields of product, graphic, new media, interior, packaging and multi-disciplinary design from across the world. Started in 1988 when it was unveiled by the then Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr Lee Kuan Yew, at the first Singapore International Design Forum, the Singapore Design Awards has established itself as the leading design award in Southeast Asia.
