Electrolux launches ‘Vac from the Sea’ initiative to turn plastic islands into vacuum cleaners

Turning Plastic Islands into Vacuum Cleaners
The Pacific Ocean is polluted with the largest floating garbage islands in the world. Electrolux intends to gather plastic from the world’s oceans and turn it into a number of vacuum cleaners. Zanussi helps banish washday blues at Centrepoint

Electrolux has donated 17 energy and water efficient Zanussi washing machines to Centrepoint, the leading national charity that provides housing and support to homeless young people between the ages of 16 and 25.The washing machines were sent to 17 young people supported by Centrepoint in their flats, spread across a number of London boroughs. Semi-independent living is a vital stage in the process that enables homeless young people to take control of their lives.. The young people at Centrepoint spend sometimes up to a quarter of their weekly income on laundry costs which cuts into their budget and their time – 2 to 3 hours a week at the launderette. Electrolux features in Taschen’s ‘Product Design in the Sustainable Era’ book

Several ‘green’ Electrolux and AEG-Electrolux products (including the AEG-Electrolux Heat pump tumble dryer which is 40% more efficient than an A rated tumble dryer and the AEG Super Eco Washing machine which saves up to 83% energy ) as well as Electrolux Design Lab concept products are showcased in 12 pages of Taschen’s “ Product Design in the Sustainable Era” book.

Introducing the Robotic Fish Dishwasher, the Snail Induction Cooker and Sheep Vacuum Cleaner – 25 Electrolux Design Lab semi-finalists provide innovative compact living solutions.
From a field of 1,300, the top 25 concepts have been chosen from designers based in 17 countries across the world. Romania and China are represented by three entries each, the USA, India, Russia and Australia have two representatives and for the first time ever, entries from India and the Middle East. Electrolux launch design concept to commemorate the Swedish Royal wedding

In order to commemorate the wedding between the Swedish Crown Princess Victoria and Mr Daniel Westling, on June 19, Electrolux has developed the new “Swedish Crowns” design concept. Electrolux has chosen some of their best and most popular products including the vacuum cleaners and Ergorapido and UltraOne,. The products have been covered with a retro design pattern that is very famous in Sweden, the blue and yellow “Kronor” (crowns) pattern, that was created by Wanja Djanaieff to the Swedish participants in the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972.
