World’s best chefs select Massimo Bottura’s Osteria Francescana as the best restaurant in the world

S.Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants, is considered by many to be the world’s most prestigious restaurant list. The covetous no 1 spot, as well as the other top positions on the list, is chosen by the Electrolux World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy. The academy consists of 837 academy members drawn from 27 regions globally. Each academy member casts seven votes, 3 of which need to be given to restaurants outside their own region. The votes are then counted to produce the S. Pellegrino World’s 50 Best list.
In contrast, The Electrolux Chef\’s Choice Award is not selected by food critics or connoisseurs; it is the top 50 chefs themselves who pick their top restaurant. This year the winner was Modena based restaurant Osteria Francescana where chef Massimo Bottura creates world class dining experiences with inspiration from the region of Emilia-Romagna, music and art.
Noma wins second year in a row
The Nr 1 spot, selected by Electrolux World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy, is occupied by the Danish top tier restaurant Noma. Star chef Rene Redzepi’s vision and exploration of the local Nordic cuisine, flora and fauna combined with extraordinary culinary skills gives him the world’s most prestigious culinary award for the second time in a row.
