New Electrolux CombiSteam oven delivers flexibility and flavour
Professional results are easier than ever to achieve at home, thanks to a new 72 litre CombiSteam Deluxe oven from Electrolux.
Today’s consumers want outstanding results without turning cooking into a full-time job. Electrolux has 90 years professional expertise and is Europe’s leading supplier to professional kitchens and laundries. Features and functions originally created for professional chefs have been adapted for consumers in the new Electrolux Inspiration range of home appliances.
Electrolux, inventor of the combi-steam concept for professional chefs, is launching a new version of its CombiSteam Deluxe oven for households, now with a bigger cavity and more flexible shelf system.
The all-new oven, which is part of the company’s Inspiration line-up, offers all of the functions expected on a top-of-the-range oven, plus three programmes that use different combinations of steam and hot air:
• CrispSteam (25% steam) for roasting poultry or meat. While dry heat crisps the surface, steam keeps the inside moist and tender.
• SoftSteam (50% steam) for creating a crisp crust on breads and cakes and for reheating foods without further browning them or drying them out.
• PureSteam (100% steam) for dishes like rice, couscous or vegetables for maximum retention of nutrients, vitamins and minerals as well as natural colour and taste.
In the new Inspiration design, clean, architectural lines and authentic materials were chosen to make the appliances distinctive yet adapted to different kinds of kitchens. Simplified graphics, premium white LED touch screens, black glass, brushed stainless-steel, a new handle and a velvet-closing door give the CombiSteam Deluxe oven a premium look and fit-feel-finish.
Inspired by professional kitchens
The oven has new features based on the company’s 90 years of experience equipping professional kitchens, including the kitchens of nearly half of all the Michelin-starred chefs in Europe.
At 72 litres, the CombiSteam Deluxe oven offers the largest cavity with PureSteam functionality and the largest baking tray on the market. Combined with a new shelf system with up to five levels, this offers a larger, more flexible space than ever before for cooking more food at one time.
The oven’s new FoodProbe also features an improved ergonomic design, plugging into the front frame of the oven instead of into the side of the cavity. “Professional chefs regularly use a food probe to know when the food has reached the correct internal temperature,” Sophie Davidson, Head of Product UK and Ireland at Electrolux says. “Now it’s much easier to do the same thing at home.”
Just like the professionals, consumers also have high standards for cleaning but have little time to scour out their ovens. That was the inspiration for the CombiSteam Deluxe oven’s steam cleaning function, which naturally softens food residues for straightforward and faster cleaning.
Choice of professionals
Professional chefs have long used a combination of steam and hot air to preserve moisture and texture and bring out the flavours of their ingredients. “The natural flavour complexity that ingredients acquire when cooked with steam is something I love,” says Sweden’s 2009 Chef of the Year Viktor Westerling. “I see the surprise and enthusiasm in the eyes of my guests, which tells me that they have experienced a composition of great taste.”
Combination cooking also makes entertaining more relaxing and enjoyable, as food can be prepared before guests arrive and then kept warm while preserving moisture and textures. “In many ways, steam is the entertainer’s best friend,” says Tom Sjöstedt, another Swedish Chef of the Year, who won in 2008. “With dry heat, the juices in the food evaporate. Steam keeps everything tender.”
