Electrolux Design Lab is delighted to be welcomed back to Grand Designs Live for another year, giving visitors an insight into how we could be living, cooking and socialising in the future.
Leading global design competition, Electrolux Design Lab is now open for submissions at www.electroluxdesignlab.com. The annual design competition, now in its eleventh year, asks design students and recent graduates from around the globe to submit an idea and a sketch of an innovative design solution for future households.
A hands-free stirring utensil, a tasting spoon that tells you what ingredient is lacking- this is what the future of household and cooking appliances looked like at the 10th annual Electrolux Design Lab competition. But there could only be one winner- Aeroball by Jan Ankiersztajn from Poland was awarded first prize in the finals held at the Triennale Design Museum in Milan, 25 October 2012.
Two Michelin star chef Tom Kerridge from the highly acclaimed Hand and Flowers in Marlow will join the innovative project alongside Simon Rogan from the Michelin starred L’Enclume in Cumbria and Atul Kochhar of Benares who is famed for his innovative take on Indian cuisine. Lancashire’s renowned Nigel Howarth and Lisa Allen will also be bringing their own culinary style to The Cube as will London-based Tom Aikens – the youngest UK chef to have been awarded two Michelin stars.
You can now vote for your favourite Design Lab concept in this year’s People Choice Award. The ten final concepts will be scrutinised by an expert jury panel in Milan on the day of the final event but we want to know who you would pick as the winner

At this year’s National Home Improvement Show the AEG Mobile Training Academy will be a hub of fantastic cooking and kitchen advice. Over the weekend visitors are invited to hear from chefs and kitchen experts on how to make cooking easier, more economical, and more enjoyable.
The tenth edition of the annual Electrolux Design Lab competition challenged industrial design students to consider how a fuller sensory experience can be incorporated into every day, home appliances.
