The AEG-Electrolux S75678SK1 European style food centre combines sophistication and A+ energy efficiency

Exceptional attention to detail and precision engineering make this a model that truly stands out from the crowd. It is also the perfect choice for those who want an American style SBS that fits perfectly into a standard European kitchen – with its slim 60cm depth. Because this appliance is built in-situ, this is also a great choice for homes which can’t accommodate a traditional sized American Style fridge freezer (e.g. because of the difficulty of fitting a pre-built large model through doors, along awkward shaped hallways or upstairs).

In a fingerprint-proof stainless steel finish, it will fit beautifully beside kitchen cabinets and other appliances giving a built-in look. Perfect for those who want an American style look without the bulk. It has large capacity, frost free chilling and freezing, humidity control, holiday function and electronic controls for precise temperature control.

The interior is packed full of thoughtfully designed features – wine rack, extra-large salad drawer, covered dairy compartment, egg tray and butter dish plus a quick chill bottle shelf.

Shopping function – once activated it lowers the temperature of the fridge and freezer simultaneously, compensating for the rise in temperature which occurs when you load up with newly bought food.

Coolmatic/Frostmatic – quickly chill or freeze freshly added food to the pre-set temperature, preserving the flavour, nutritional value and appearance of food.

Design – the smooth streamline design is stylish and complements any contemporary kitchen design.

Twin Compressor technology means the fridge and freezer have their own compressors which operate independently. This ensures precise control of internal temperature – regardless of external temperature – and you can switch the fridge off when you go on holiday, leaving the freezer on – thus saving energy!

At last! A dishwasher that shakes off the shackles of the industry standard’s 1970’s place setting to comfortably accommodate 21st Century wash loads! The industry standard for dishwasher “settings” was created back in the 70s and until now has remained the same, even though we demand so much more from our dishwasher today. Did you know…the industry “place setting standard” (see *) doesn’t include pots and pans, salad bowls or serving dishes!! And it only allows for plate sizes up to 26cm diameter.

So until now it is assumed that we all have the standard load of the seventies place settings – dinner plates, side plates, dessert dishes, cups – and saucers! Research by AEG-Electrolux and University of Bonn* has found that today’s load is very different.

More loadable space, superb cleaning (however you load it) and baskets for all kinds of differently shaped items!

AEG-Electrolux has therefore redesigned the interior and provided 10L more loadable volume to fit big dishes, pots, larger plates up to 34cm in diameter – in other words: perfect for real-life.

The new specially engineered baskets ensure that everything can be washed in the dishwasher and items are angled at such a way to get maximum coverage from the double rotation ‘Satellite Sprayarm’ which makes up 5 spraying levels to ensure perfect cleaning. This action ensures every angle is covered for outstanding performance, whatever is being cleaned.

The unique wave form baskets guarantee easier loading of all crockery and cutlery and better cleaning and drying.

There is a new ‘Hygiene’ option for items like chopping boards, knives, jam jars etc, which has a hotter final rinse to ensure complete hygiene and the new wave shape Self Cleaning Filter allows a better circulation of water to remove all food particles.

With more people living, eating and entertaining in the kitchen, noise level on dishwashers is also a very important consideration. The new AEG-Electrolux range is extremely quiet while the new top of the range model F99000MP has the lowest noise level of any dishwasher at just 39db. This is so quiet that you can’t even hear that it is on!

The new AEG-Electrolux F99000MP uses just 0.99 kWh of energy, which means that running costs are much lower and we have lowered the water consumption to just 10 litres – and by selecting the Auto programme this can go as little as 7 litres!

AEG-Electrolux F99000MP

• 12 Place Settings – XXL interior can fit a plate of 34cm diameter

• LCD Display

• 9 programmes

• Extra silent programme

• Hygiene Option

• 1-24 Hour delay start

• Flexispray spray arm &

• 3rd spray arm

• Interior light

• Cutlery Board

• 10 litre water consumption

• Auto Off

• Active Drying

• 39db Noise level

• AAA rated

• Expected to sell at £799

* The dishwashers industry standard “settings” was created back in the ‘70s and, until now, never changed. The standard is: 1 dinner plate, 1 soup plate, 1 dessert plate, 1 cup, 1 saucer, 1 glass, 1 fork, 1 soup spoon, 1 knife, 1 tea spoon, 1 dessert spoon.

What can even accommodate almost any size or shape of pan? The AEG-Electrolux Maxisense Induction hob is all of these and more!

Induction hobs are here to stay and one of the most advanced induction hobs in the UK will be on show and in action at the Ideal Home of the Future brought to you by Virgin Media at Stand 1M30.

Come and see the AEG-Electrolux MaxiSense hob which features flexible induction sections, so you are no longer tied to specific pan shapes or sizes. Pans can be placed anywhere on the hob as long as the section marker is covered, eliminating the restriction of traditional specific zones. What’s more this hob also features DirekTouch controls which make temperature control even more responsive and precise.

This model, the AEG-Electrolux MaxiSense HK953400FB Induction Hob is in the shops now (seen at around £870.00). For more information please contact Electrolux Press Office,

Susan Dean 07778 791373 or Sue Hargreaves 0118 9760030 pressoffice@electroluxmajorappliance.co.uk

Editors notes:

Induction: Heating the pan, not the burner

Induction technology offers extremely precise temperature control because it generates heat directly in the pan itself. An electromagnet beneath the glass surface creates a powerful field which heats the pan itself directly (technically, it’s a process call ‘the Joule effect’). Because the heat is generated in the pan itself, temperature can be adjusted instantly – you don’t need to take a pan off the hob to stop it boiling over.

Another advantage of induction hobs is safety. Since the burner itself doesn’t heat up, the area surrounding the pan is always safe to touch and the residual heat beneath the pan dissipates quickly. And if no pans are on the hob, the cooking zones do not heat up even if they are turned on. A temperature sensor prevents overheating and switches off the power.

Because induction cooking doesn’t have to heat up a burner first, it is also extremely energy efficient. Induction hobs recognize whether or not a pan is placed on the cooking zone and what size it is. Only the bottom of the pan is heated and not the total area of the cooking zone. This means that there’s no wasted heat from a burner that’s larger than the pan. And the moment a pan is removed, the energy field stops working and no more power is used.

AEG-Electrolux introduces its most Energy Efficient tumble dryer ever – the AEG-Electrolux Sensidry which uses 40% less energy than an A rated dryer

The new AEG-Electrolux Sensidry T59850 features the very latest heat pump technology for unrivalled energy efficiency. This model consumes 40% less energy than the minimum requirement for an A-rated tumble dryer, which means it costs just 19 pence to dry a full load (7kg). That’s less than the cost of a second class stamp!’

Heat Pump Dryer Efficiency = Perfect Results

Heat pump dryers not only mean dramatic energy savings, they dry garments so much more gently than traditional dryers so the results are superb! This is because the heat pump technology allows the dryer to operate at temperatures that are almost 25°C lower than comparative dryers without compromising drying time.

Energy Consumption adapted to every load**: Fewer clothes = reduced energy consumption

Humidity sensors detect moisture levels and reduce energy consumption accordingly by altering drying time. Although it is more efficient (cost per kg) to run a tumble dryer with a full load, this facility offers freedom to dry on demand without wasting energy. Additionally, a time delay function allows the dryer to operate and consume energy, during ‘off-peak’ periods making it even greener.

“Woolmark Silver Care” endorsement

The AEG-Electrolux Sensidry T59850 has been awarded the “Woolmark Silver Care” by the Woolmark Company.

Smart Features

An LC-Display offers time drying options, a delayed start alternative and updates on drying times as the Sensidry calculates the time left to dry its current load. A large drum and a light inside the dryer ensure you need never leave anything behind when you unload the laundry.

• 7Kg condenser dryer

• Sensor drying

• A rated condenser dryer – Heat pump technology

• Large LCD display

• Indication for tank, filter, condenser in display

• Delay start 20 hrs

• 21 programs

• Humidity controlled drying

• Extra long anti crease

• Reversible door

• Special option

This high level of urbanisation means that we have to rethink the way we’re using space, energy and our environment. Using this future scenario as a foundation, Electrolux has developed a brand new design concept illustrating how we will live in the future. Please view our youtube video for visual presentation of how the concept works!

Imagine never having to use pans or pots again, never having to worry whether the ingredients are fresh or never having to look up a recipe in a cook book. Heart of the Home is a thought provoking vision of the kitchen of the future – an integrated solution functioning as a kitchen table, cooking surface and bar all in one.

‘Heart of the Home’ is an intelligent, amorphous, interchangeable cooking surface that adapts to user needs. When using the Heart of the Home one simply places one’s ingredients on the surface. The appliance then analyses the ingredients and presents a list of suitable recipes. After deciding on a recipe, the user marks an area with his hand to determine how large the cooking area should be. Then the desired depth of the surface is created by simply pressing the hand against the malleable material. After achieving the required width and depth it’s just a matter of setting temperature and time with a simple touch of a finger.

Heart of the Home background

2008 was the year when, for the first time in history, more people were living in cities than in rural areas. According to the UN, the number of people living in urban areas will increase to a staggering 74 percent in 2050. As a reference, a mere 29 percent lived in cities in 1950. Electrolux has developed the Heart of the Home as an illustration of how we will lead our lives in 2050 based on a number of assumptions:

• Social needs are important: Just as today, social activities will be an important part of our lives, especially when it comes to socialising with your family and friends. The increased level of high-tech support in everyday life will also mean that we will want to experience true and real values.

• We need simplified homes: In the limited available space of future mega cities, homes will need to be flexible and able to adjust according to circumstances. The appliances of the future will need to be integrated and adjustable. We won’t have room for a whole host of products each with their own specific function.

• Societies need to be more effective: When 74 percent of 9 billion people live in cities, we have to adapt our way of living to the resources we have. We need new ways of recycling our waste. Energy efficient products and buildings will be more important than ever before.

• We won’t make it without technology: Technology is important today, but it will be a matter of survival in 2050. Technological advances are a prerequisite for us being able to have a sustainable development, environmentally as well as socially.

Heart of the Home was presented for the first time at DesignBoost in Stockholm February 12th 2010.

Introducing the EHD80170P Black Glass Induction hob from Electrolux

The 80cm EHD80170P features four induction zones with touch controls and individual zone timers. The extra large induction zone makes it very user-friendly and there is a useful booster setting for fast cooking. The auto heat up brings food to the boil and automatically reduces it to a pre-selected level for ease of use.

INDUCTION : Fast, Safe and very Easy to Clean

Induction hobs use an electromagnetic coil beneath the cooking zones to create an induction field which heats the metal pan on the hob. As heat is not used, the hob itself never gets hot, only the pan. The benefits of induction cooking are many: instant heat and unrivalled speed: water, for example, boils three times more quickly with induction; it is highly responsive and can move from low to high temperature very quickly; it is safer – as the hob never heats up. It is energy efficient – it only operates when the pan is on it – and cleaning is easy as nothing bakes on.

Electrolux Design Lab is one of the most prestigious annual design competitions – open to industrial design students (graduate and undergraduate) – around the world. The theme for 2010 is: Second Space Age.

Please visit our brand new Competition web site which features YouTube video clips and everything you need to know on how to enter:

www.electroluxdesignlab.com

Now in its 8th year, this year’s competition: Electrolux Design Lab 2010, invites global undergraduate and graduate industrial design students to create home appliances that consider shrinking domestic spaces. Your ideas will shape how people prepare and store food, wash clothes, and do dishes in the homes of 2050 when 75% of the world’s population are predicted to live in an urban environment. Growing populations living in concentrated areas dictate a need for greater space efficiency. This year, special consideration will be given to designers that submit a design within the context of a range or suite of solutions/appliances.

Your design ideas should address key consumer requirements; being green, adaptive to time and space, and consider individualization.

As global urbanization increases, the perceived value and potential use of space in domestic environments is explored – we’re entering the second space age

Trend: By 2050 74% of global population will live in an urban environment

Design: Small doesn’t mean cheap – it means smart, efficient and innovative. Compact living as platform to explore future Electrolux solutions

Green: Emphasise importance of reducing global impact

Deadline: 1 May, 2010
