Leo Hickman’s article today in the Guardian – see http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2009/dec/01/lab-grown-meat – has put the idea of In Vitro Meat cultivation in the public domain. Just a couple of months ago, at Electrolux’s leading design competition for Industrial Design Students (held at 100% Design, London), the winning concept used exactly that technology. Rickard Hederstierna from Lund University in Sweden is the winner of the Electrolux Design Lab 2009 competition for inventing Cocoon. The winner was announced at finals in London on September 24, at 100% Design London, the UK’s leading architecture and design event.
