Electrolux Design Lab is delighted to be welcomed back to Grand Designs Live for another year, giving visitors an insight into how we could be living, cooking and socialising in the future.
Leading global design competition, Electrolux Design Lab is now open for submissions at www.electroluxdesignlab.com. The annual design competition, now in its eleventh year, asks design students and recent graduates from around the globe to submit an idea and a sketch of an innovative design solution for future households.
You can now vote for your favourite Design Lab concept in this year’s People Choice Award. The ten final concepts will be scrutinised by an expert jury panel in Milan on the day of the final event but we want to know who you would pick as the winner
The tenth edition of the annual Electrolux Design Lab competition challenged industrial design students to consider how a fuller sensory experience can be incorporated into every day, home appliances. Ten young designers, chosen from a field of 1,200 entrants, will now present their concepts to a jury of professional designers and experience creators in Milan on 25th October 2012
The winner of the 2012 10th Electrolux Design Lab competition will be looking to impress a jury panel consisting of a Michelin Star chef, a world renowned design blogger and Electrolux’s very own Design Director at a live event in Milan, Italy on the 25th of October. Chef and restaurateur David Oldani; Designer and blogger Kelly Beall and Design Director of EMEA Henrik Otto will judge the finalists as they present their concepts for household appliances that give us new, fuller sensory experiences.

From 16 March to 1 April 2012 visitors to the Ideal Home Show at the ExCel, London can see Electrolux Design Lab’s innovative concepts in the Virgin Media ‘House of the Future’. The fantastic concepts- invented by 2011 Design Lab finalists- offer smart domestic appliance solutions for the future. The four products to feature in the House will include runner up The Ribbon and winning concept the Spot Cleaner.
Having spawned ideas such as Mars colonisation robots, vacuum cleaner slippers and meat growing machines, Electrolux Design Lab looks back at a decade of groundbreaking design. Starting out as a collaborative competition between Electrolux and a select group of European design schools, Electrolux Design Lab is today a truly global completion receiving thousands of contributions every year.
