Tips on maintaining your oven

  • Determine the type of oven you have before you start cleaning. Certain cleaning methods or materials might cause damage to your oven so always follow the maintenance instructions listed in the Operations Manual.
  • Using a damp cloth, wipe down the walls and door of your oven when it is cool. This prevents burnt-on spills from building-up on the oven and saves on the tedious scrubbing involved in your monthly cleaning session.
  • Cleaning oven windows with window cleaner will make it shine.
  • Use stainless steel polish on the oven exterior for extra sheen.
  • Baking soda can be used to soak up grease and oily stains. Place three teaspoons of baking soda into a spray bottle filled with water. Shake thoroughly to ensure that the baking soda dissolves fully. When the oven is cool, spray the baking soda and water solution onto the black carbon or grease spills on the oven walls. Spray the oven walls several times a day for a few days. The residue will settle on the bottom of your oven, which is easily removed by wiping the oven with a damp cloth.
  • Place a few layers of aluminum foil on the floor of the oven (shiny side up) underneath but not touching the heating element, to help catch spills.
  • Hire an oven cleaning company periodically (at least once a year) to clean your oven professionally. There are hidden and unreachable corners, and parts inside the oven such as the heating wire/ventilator/blower-wheel/bulb, which require checking and cleaning every now and then. Oven cleaning companies have the expertise and the equipment to reach those inaccessible nooks and corners.
