Here’s more on the Chef himself and what we can expect from him in the coming months.

Tell us a bit about why you decided to go into the culinary arts

It’s  in my DNA. I am the third generation in my maternal family line to do so, and the calling to go into cooking came rather early. I was inspired by many good chefs around me, and was well fed too!

What is your favourite dish?

Congee. You can eat it anytime of the day, with many different kinds of condiments, in different kinds of moods or feelings and in all kinds of weather conditions, regardless of whether you are healthy or sick. Most importantly, it is comfort food, which is very important for chefs!

What is your proudest achievement as a chef, and what was your biggest challenge?

To be able to represent Singapore in major international competitions and culinary events, both locally and overseas.

The biggest challenge I had was to run a catering operation on one of the biggest super yachts in the world, feeding 16 VIP guests. This was in addition to feeding the 80-strong crew comprised of 16 different nationalities. I had to cook four main meals and two tea sessions round the clock. The menus had to change, but the people eating from my galley didn’t!

What do you enjoy about using Electrolux products?

Electrolux is a well-established global brand in consumer home appliances and professional food service equipment in the kitchen industry. My experience with them both at work and home tells me they are convenient, easy to handle, fast, efficient and reliable.

What can our readers look forward to from you in the coming months?

Inspiration to cook, education on food and cuisines and creative cooking techniques, plus lots of tips and ideas to play with many new ingredients that are available now in our supermarkets – using Electrolux equipment of course!
