This year, children are at the heart of Design Lab with the theme “Healthy Happy Kids”.  Over 1,500 concepts have been submitted and the top 100 entries are now up for public voting.

Topping the shortlist, students from South Korea led the way for Asia Pacific with eight concepts making it through to the next stage, followed by ideas from China, Indonesia Malaysia, New Zealand, India, Taiwan and the Philippines.

Here are a few exciting concepts from the region that could change the way we live in the future:

Dynamic Cooker, Jeena Jun, South Korea

The Dynamic Cooker is equipped with Physical Telepresence technology that eliminates the use of sharp objects that put the little ones at risk, by following the movements of its users. Physical Telepresence captures and remotely renders the shapes of people and objects.

Ride and Wash, Louisa Veronica Salazar Ilustre, Philippines

The Ride and Wash is a ride-able – much like a motorcycle – washing machine that provides the little ones with the opportunity to help with the laundry while at play.

Magna, Muhamad Ghiantama, Indonesia

Magna is an inflatable flying air purifier, that can work when its static and being charged, or follows its users movements in the air. Users are also able to control the Magna with a phone application. This device boosts the imaginative minds of children and can also be used as a play ball.
