Electrolux Design Lab: Changing the future of home appliances and the lives of designers

Many “modern” technologies today have surprisingly long histories. It was Leonardo Da Vinci who first designed a submersible ship, or submarine in the 16th century, and there is no telling if an unimaginable design today may simply be a blueprint for a new technology in the future.

The Electrolux Design Lab 2010 competition started off with a promising crop of 1,300 entries from 50 different countries. Within months, it was whittled down to 25 semi-finalists. That number was further brought down to eight and finally, Peter Alwin from India with his micro induction heating appliance “The Snail” won the minds and hearts of the jury to clinch the prestigious title of Electrolux Design Lab winner 2010.

Eight Finalists Unveiled @ 2010 Design Lab Competition

Eight finalists have survived the final cut of this year’s Electrolux Design Lab Competition. Each designer has created a modern and consumer-friendly concept for compact living. In the final round of the competition, the finalists will present their submissions to a panel of judges and stand to win exciting prizes.
