Electrolux consolidating North American headquarters in Charlotte

Charlotte, NC has been selected as the location of the new Electrolux North American headquarters where a number of U.S. corporate office operations and support functions will combine into a single location.

The consolidation of multiple entities in the new site will begin in summer 2010. Over time, the company expects to employ more than 700 people in the Charlotte office when the move is completed.

At a news conference with Charlotte, North Carolina and Mecklenburg County officials, Electrolux executives said Charlotte was chosen for a number of reasons.  Kevin Scott, president & CEO of Electrolux Major Appliances North America said, “Charlotte is consistently ranked as one of the best cities in which to live and work in the U.S., and it provides great access to road, rail and air transportation. Charlotte is also a center for business, finance and technology, and the educational and housing resources in the area are outstanding, as are the cultural, recreational and sports activities.”

“The state, along with the county and city, were very helpful in working with us to find the incentives that made this the right choice for Electrolux,” Mr. Scott said.  “We are very pleased to become part of this great community.”

Bev Perdue, North Carolina Governor said, “We are also very pleased and honored that Electrolux has chosen Charlotte, North Carolina as the site of its North American headquarters.  We welcome you and your colleagues to our community and look forward to the start of a long and beneficial relationship.”

Following an extensive site search, the new Electrolux North American headquarters will be located at 10200 David Taylor Drive in the University Area of northeast Charlotte.

New headquarters will bring U.S. team together

In announcing the move on November 17, Hans Stråberg, president and CEO of Electrolux Group, said, “Working together as one team, under one roof, allows us to take advantage of synergies and improve coordination among these related businesses and functional areas.”

Mr. Scott said, “I am very pleased that Electrolux will enter 2010 with the stage set to better meet the future needs of our customers, business, and investors.”

Locations that will initially combine and relocate to the new corporate headquarters include Electrolux Major Appliances North America Headquarters in Augusta, GA (excluding the Customer Care Center); Electrolux International Sales in Pittsburgh, PA; Electrolux Holding Company in Cleveland, OH; Electrolux Major Appliances (finance support) in Columbus, OH; Electrolux Major Appliances (accounts payable) in Springfield, TN; Electrolux Major Appliances North America Industrial Design Center in Anderson, SC; and Electrolux Major Appliances North America Sales and Finance in Huntersville, NC.

Other Electrolux entities in the U.S. will move their corporate office operations and support functions to the new headquarters.  Timing of these subsequent moves will depend on individual business needs.

Job opportunities at the new Electrolux North America Headquarters will begin to post at the end of Q1 2010. They will be found in the Career Opportunities section of the Electrolux corporate web site at http://electrolux.com/career_opportunities.aspx.
