Electrolux Donates $140,000 in Air Conditioning Units to Charlotte Community
Charlotte, July 6, 2012 – Electrolux today announced a $140,000 donation of room air conditioning units to the Crisis Assistance Ministry to aid Charlotteans who have been impacted by unprecedented weather conditions. This donation provides 940 units to the agency for immediate distribution to the neediest members in the community.
“We are committed to giving back to Charlotte and to supporting those who are at real risk from the recent high temperatures,” said Jack Truong, president and CEO of Electrolux Major Appliances North America. “Our air conditioning units will provide immediate, local relief.”
The company, which sells these air conditioning units under its Frigidaire brand, manufactures cooking, laundry, dishwashers, refrigerators and freezer products at its eight North American factories. Many of the products are designed locally in Charlotte, where the company’s North American business has been headquartered for two years.
How to Participate
Beginning today, Mecklenburg County residents in need should visit Crisis Assistance Ministry at 500-A Spratt Street in Charlotte, between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. to apply for a unit. Applicants should bring:
• Photo ID and social security card
• Proof of income for the last 30 days
• A copy of their current lease (or other proof of residency if not a rental dwelling)
