Electrolux Celebrates Two Years in Charlotte

Charlotte, July 9, 2012 – Electrolux North America celebrates two years of being headquartered in the Queen City this month and is launching a local advertising campaign to thank the community for being a great place to work and live.

As Charlotte’s largest corporate headquarters relocation in 25 years, the first Electrolux employees started work in the new North American headquarters location in July 2010. Now, two years later with a more than 65 percent increase in employees, Electrolux is just getting started in the city.

“When the first employees walked in the doors two years ago, there were about 450 people who made Charlotte their new home,” said Electrolux Major Appliances President and CEO Jack Truong. “Today, we employ more than 1,500 people in North Carolina—more than 740 of them in Charlotte. We are thrilled with the success we have had growing the company in this city.”

Selecting Charlotte for the North American corporate headquarters was a strategic decision to consolidate talent from the company’s three North American business sectors: Major Appliances, Floorcare and Small Appliances, as well as Professional Kitchen and Laundry Appliances.

In the two years since the office opened, several milestones have been achieved. These include:

Already expanding: Electrolux completed a 63,000 square foot expansion to the headquarters on David Taylor Drive late last year. It is now a 278,000 square foot facility.
Adding innovation: Opened a Research & Development facility off Hutchison McDonald Rd. in Charlotte.
Thinking sustainably: Awarded LEED Silver CI certification for the Research & Development facility renovations.
Hiring locally: More than 40 percent of the new hires during the prior two years are local Charlotteans – up from a third at the end of 2010.
Still hiring: Electrolux is recruiting for more than 70 Charlotte-based roles across all functions, including engineering, IT, sales, marketing and supply chain.
Impacting locally: Our employees live in more than 100 neighborhoods in the greater-Charlotte area where they positively impact the local economy.
Getting involved: Electrolux is actively involved in the community, including with the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, Charlotte Regional Partnership, and the United Way of the Central Carolinas
Giving back: Dozens of local organizations have benefitted from Electrolux through cash, sponsorships, and in-kind donations.

Electrolux is celebrating this milestone with a local advertising campaign that will kick off on July 16. Charlotteans will notice an abundance of billboards, advertising and sponsorship celebrating the two-year anniversary and the successful partnership with the community.
