Electrolux donates more than $100,000 in Front-Load Washer and Dryer Pairs to Local Charlotte Organizations Serving Families in Need

Employees and Community Contribute Barrels of Laundry Detergent
Charlotte, April 24 – Electrolux today announced the donation of more than $100,000 in energy-efficient Frigidaire front-load washer and dryer pairs to local Charlotte organizations as part of an ongoing effort to help families in need. To commemorate the donation, the benefitting organizations and families were invited to the Salvation Army warehouse as two 18-wheeler trucks filled with new front-load washer and dryer pairs were unloaded.
Salvation Army Center of Hope, a rapid rehousing program and the primary recipient of the washer and dryer pairs, will use the appliances in their apartments for families transitioning through a rough time. Other organizations receiving donations include Crisis Assistance Ministry, Ada Jenkins Center and Florence Crittenton Services.
“At Electrolux, we’re dedicated to giving back to our community and helping those in need get back on their feet,” said Jack Truong, president and CEO of Electrolux Major Appliances North America. “This donation of Frigidaire front-load washers and dryers will help families take care of their needs.”
Electrolux employees and their families, together with Charlotte Knights’ baseball fans, contributed bottles of laundry detergent to help round out the gift and give recipients everything they need to get the cleanest clothes possible. The detergent was collected in barrels at Electrolux Family Night at the new BB&T ballpark on April 15 and will go to the Salvation Army Center of Hope.
“On behalf of the Center of Hope and families we serve, I can say that we’re tremendously grateful for the gift of these washers and dryers,” said Deronda Metz, director of the Center of Hope. “While our current apartments have the necessary hookups for laundry appliances, it hasn’t been possible to install them until now. They will benefit many families for years to come.”
The company manufactures cooking, laundry, dishwashers, floor care products, refrigerators and freezer products at its ten North American factories. All of the products are designed locally in Charlotte.
