Veterans Among Recipients of Appliances as Memorial Day Approaches

Charlotte, N.C., May 22, 2014 – Electrolux announced today the donation of $50,000 in Frigidaire Gallery® Smudge-Proof Stainless Steel™ kitchen appliances to local Charlotte, N.C. families and individuals in need. The cooking, refrigeration and dishwashing appliances will be delivered to Crisis Assistance Ministry, who will help identify families and individuals that need these essential appliances but cannot afford them.

Just in time for Memorial Day, Electrolux made the first part of the delivery this morning directly to two deserving recipients.  Both are veterans who have been homeless but are now moving into apartments through a program with Builders of Hope, a nonprofit agency partnering with Crisis Assistance Ministry and working in Charlotte to renovate urban housing and make it affordable for working families.

“Our purpose is to make an everyday difference in people’s lives. We especially want to do this for the men and woman who have served our country,” said Nolan Pike, senior vice president and general manager, North America cooking products. “That’s why we continue to give back to the communities in which we live and work. One of the best ways to do that is to support the creation of affordable housing – something we’re hoping to do through the donation of these appliances in Charlotte.”

“We are incredibly grateful for the donation of these Frigidaire® appliances and this three-way partnership that will help our community create more affordable housing options,” said Carol Hardison, CEO of Crisis Assistance Ministry. “How fitting that the first sets will help men and women who have served our nation as they regain stability and create a home of their own again.”

This donation comes on the heels of the new Frigidaire Gallery® Smudge-Proof Stainless Steel advertising campaign, launched last week. The campaign features the Frigidaire Gallery® line of kitchen appliances with Smudge-Proof Stainless Steel, an industry-first innovation that delivers the desired look of stainless steel while resisting fingerprints and cleaning easily.
