Company Makes Cooling Donation for Third Successive Summer
Charlotte, N.C. July 15, 2014 – Electrolux today donated more than $45,000 in room air conditioners for local residents in need. The company delivered nearly 400 Frigidaire® air conditioners to Crisis Assistance Ministry for distribution to low-income Mecklenburg County families and individuals.
“We hope this donation will help those struggling to keep cool in the heat,” said Joon So, Electrolux vice president and general manager of Cold and Home Comfort Products. “We’re happy to be giving back to the community we call home.”
“I cannot imagine living through a summer in the Charlotte region without air conditioning,” said Carol Hardison, CEO of Crisis Assistance Ministry. “Electrolux has proven to be a critical partner in efficiently meeting the urgent needs of neighbors in crisis. We are grateful for their ongoing partnership.” Crisis Assistance Ministry will distribute the appliances in collaboration with community serving agencies who work to prevent homelessness and preserve dignity for the working poor.
The total worth of products Electrolux has donated in the Charlotte area is valued at more than $790,000. The company, which sells these air conditioning units under its Frigidaire brand, manufactures cooking, laundry, dishwashers, refrigerators and freezer products in its eight North American factories. Many of the products are designed locally in Charlotte, where the company’s North American business is headquartered.
