Electrolux Donates Air Conditioners to Help Needy Stay Cool in the Summer Heat

Charlotte, N.C., July 17, 2017 — Electrolux this week donated nearly $170,000 in room air conditioners for those in need. The donations took place in Charlotte, home of the company’s North American headquarters, and in Memphis, Tenn., site of an Electrolux manufacturing facility.

“We are approaching the hottest time of the year, and are pleased to make a donation that will help families stay safe this summer,” said Nolan Pike, senior vice president, North America Product Lines. “We are extremely grateful for the help of our community partners who are ensuring these units get in the hands of the neediest in our communities.”

In Charlotte, the company delivered room air conditioners to its longstanding partner Crisis Assistance Ministry for distribution to families and individuals throughout the community.

“Crisis Assistance Ministry serves some of the hardest working, and most financially fragile, families in Charlotte,” said Carol Hardison, CEO of Crisis Assistance Ministry. “If you can imagine trying to survive this summer without cooling, then you can imagine the difference this donation makes for our neighbors – moms, dads, senior citizens, and children. For many, Electrolux’s contributions are literally life-saving.”

In Memphis, this marks the fourth year Electrolux has partnered with Neighborhood Christian Centers (NCC) to help disadvantaged Memphis residents. Priority was given to households with seniors 60 and older, disabled residents and those who have been laid off from work or are on medical leave.

“NCC is proud to partner with Electrolux again this year. The need is great and the circumstances of the many neighbors in need we serve change daily, sometimes causing one to have to make choices between two needs. Providing these units to families that have no air conditioning aids to reduce heat-related illness and stress, and provides needed relief as we enter into the hottest time of the year here in Memphis. We are grateful for Electrolux and their heart for our neighbors in need,” said Ephie Johnson, president and CEO of NCC.

Electrolux, which sells these air conditioning units under its Frigidaire brand, manufactures cooking, laundry, dishwashers, refrigerators and freezer products in its eight North American manufacturing facilities. Many of the products are designed locally in Charlotte, where the company’s North American business is headquartered.
